Of course. and there were only a small number of files viewable. WDunlock.exe, requires the password, it previously did not. Looks like I am going to have to play around with the password hint and try all connotations, writting them down (as I was advised recently).

Hi again rgd1101, I see no mention of a wd unlock/wd unlocker file...to obtain the executable. I have already downloaded update to wd security & utilities...they dont provide the above, though they have a role to set it up. If you could provide further clarification...much apprecaited...

Thanks for the advise webworkings, however the battery is non-replaceable and difficult to get at (back of the case needs to be removed etc). There are though instructions available as to how to proceed. I assume you suggesting I go down this path?
