Whilst I play CS:GO on my laptop the game runs smoothly until 10 minutes later where it hits 91°C and it's on 97-100% load. I tried to tune down the clock speeds on MSI afterburner but that didn't change a thing. The GPU normally runs at 800-1000Mhz but when thermal throttling it can go to 200-400Mhz. I checked the fans and they were quite dusty. I cleaned the heatsink and got all the dust out however this didn't change anything, so I ordered a descent laptop cooler (Havit HV-F2056) to try and fix the temps and the cooler only changed the temps on my laptop -15°C on idle however did nothing under heavy load. The CPU also hits high temps of about 90°C.
Here are some of the laptop specs (ASUS N550LF-CK095H):
- Intel Core i5 4200U @ 1.6Ghz (2.4Ghz boost clock)
- NVIDIA GeForce GT 745M 2GB VRAM
- 6GB RAM @ 1600Mhz
- 500GB Hard Drive
- Windows 8.1 (Windows 10 completely breaks my graphics drivers and causes the card to stop working)
Would appreciate some help, thanks!
