~$1000 budget-- Laptop for Light Gaming with Light-Medium weight (Oct. 2016)

Hey everyone,

Just wanted to ask for a friend what a good choice for a laptop would be if used mostly for schoolwork and some gaming (titles include Rocket League, maybe GTA5). Decent battery life ~5+ hours and don't want it much heavier than 6 lbs. An SSD would be nice and a CD drive optional. Screen size 15.6" max for weight reasons. Thanks!

If you want a really good gaming experience this packs a 1060 for $1150-1200

The only downside I see is that a gaming laptop battery doesn't normally last a lot, but it will do just fine, in gaming only lasts 1 or 1 and a half hours

If you want more bettery life wait for 1050 laptops

A bit pricey

Not for a system with a 960m video card, 512 GB SSD and lighter weight. The few systems cheaper are heavier, have less battery life due to higher wattage CPUs, smaller SSD and/or are lower quality brands like Acer.

The bit issue is not heavy and good battery life which right there ups the prices.

512GB SSD is way too much, since laptop graphics cards are not replaceable I'd rather invest on a more potent GPU
