Good afternoon! My dad's going to be looking for a replacement 17" laptop in the next month or two as his is completely dying on him.
Ive filled out the questions below but the key things I'm looking for are 17", SSD for the system, i5 or i7. I'm currently looking at the lenovo ideapad 700 series but am looking for alternatives to compare

Thank you very much!!!!

1. What is your budget?
1500 tops (ideally including 3 yr in home warranty)

2. What is the size of the notebook that you are considering?
17" is a requirement

3. What screen resolution do you want?
1080 but 4k would be nice if its in the budget (doubt it)

4. Do you need a portable or desktop replacement laptop?
Nope

5. How much battery life do you need?
3 hours minimum , he mainly keeps it plugged in

6. Do you want to play games with your laptop? If so then please list the games that you want to with the settings that you want for these games. (Low,Medium or High)?
The only games he plays are on facebook

7. What other tasks do you want to do with your laptop? (Photo/Video editing, Etc.)
word/quicken/browsing

8. How much storage (Hard Drive capacity) do you need?
Not more than 500gb, he has externals. SSD at least for system is a requirement

9. If you are considering specific sites to buy from, please post their links.
amazon/newegg/bestbuy/brand sites

10. How long do you want to keep your laptop?
5 years ideally if not more

11. What kind of Optical drive do you need? DVD ROM/Writer,Bluray ROM/Writer,Etc ?
not a requirement - he has an external

12. Please tell us about the brands that you prefer to buy from them and the brands that you don't like and explain the reasons.
not a mac. I personally like dell and lenovo but not limiting this part

13. What country do you live in?
USA

14. Please tell us any additional information if needed.
fast processor is a must. he currently has i believe a 2nd gen i7. Id like to get him an i7 skylake but an i5 would be fine.
Slim and lightweight would be great, but it has to be Sturdy as he's not the easiest on his electronics
