Using that cable above. If I had two audio devices feeding into my headphones would those sounds mix and hear them at the same time? Is it safe?

I want to connect headphones to my PC and PS3. Is it safe to use that cable to achieve this? Is it alright for the headphones? It won't short out or anything?
