Greetings Team,

Planning to purchase Lenovo z50-70 59-436412 which is a I5 4th generation processor 4210U with 1.7 GHz with a moderate graphics card (GeForce 820M). Heard that intel released 5th generation processors and some of the laptops equipped with 5th generation are released. Could see only 2 models from Lenovo.

Can you suggest whether to buy 4th gen lappy or wait for 5th gen?
Does 5th gen laptops be launched soon in Indian market? Not sure as could see only 2 models from Lenovo.
Any guess on prices that will it be same with similar features except that of 5th generation?

Thanks,
Cheeli.

Solution
If you use the laptop on battery power a lot, then the 5th gen units would be beneficial as they use Broadwell architecture which decreases power consumption over Haswell Refresh. If you don't use it on battery power as much as you do on AC power, then a 4th gen CPU equipped unit would be just as good in regards to performance.

Solution
As mentioned above, 5th generation Intel CPU (Broadwell) offers better battery life compared to 4th generation Haswell Intel CPUs. Processing performance only increased by about 4% on average. The Intel HD 5500 has about 15% - 20% better performance than the Intel HD 4400; it is almost as powerful as the Intel HD 4600.
