5.1 on PC, the best output to use??

Shall I use S/pdif or the 3 3.5mm jack leads?
So on, what video player would be best to play blu rays in 5.1?

I'm using Asus xonar sound card and logitech z906 surround system which has no hdmi input.. Sadly

VLC is the way to go.

I don't have a BR player to try it but as far as I know it can.
