Yeah, Age of Empires II was pretty bad. Nothing better than calling my wife Saturday saying I'll be late coming home from my night shift so we can finish the AOE2 game we are in the middle of because we can't pull Bob away from it. (co-worker's real name may or may not be used to protect the guilty)
 
That record isn't anything as many posters have pointed out. While I doubt I hold the true world record I certainly beat them out by a mile. Perhaps we should form a Tom's team and attempt to beat them for the world record? I say we go for 72 hours or more.
 
Oh yeah, and thanks to this thread I just remembered a new Civilization is on it's way (in addition to new Diablo). Yep, expect to not hear from me for at least a few months during this joyous/pathetic time.

Oh god, Diablo 3, Civ 5, Starcraft 2... I'd better notify my family and friends that I'll soon be falling off the face of the Earth.

SO TRUE!!!!!

"Romance of Three Kindoms #", "Sim City #" and "Railroad Tycoon #" alos did that to me... though CIV is definitely the worst.
 
I don't know about anyone else, but I started playing Sim City and Civ when I was 7 and 9 years old respectively. Feel like I learned a lot from those games; complex tactical thinking, ability to patiently work toward a goal, historical perspective on how the smallest thing can shape the future, and most importantly...

... practice (not mastery) in dealing with insane murderous rage!
 
50 hours? what a joke. I know guys who have been strung out on coke who stayed up for like 10days straight playing mario brothers.
 
I won't say ive beaten 50 hours, but ive definitely beaten the older 40 hours and 20 minutes on multiple occasions back when CS was prime before steam was even heard of. I would be tempted to get myself into second place or even first, where do I sign up? My name in the history books will be worth the trouble no? :)
 
Actually this record is garbage.

The link above is to a contest that went 99 hours of play, with set times to stop to use the restroom (every 90 minutes you were given a bathroom break). 4 people made it the full 99 hours without sleep. If you were not on the bathroom break, you had to be playing, non-stop .. you couldn't rest, put the controller down, or let your character idle, you had to be fully attentive and moving at all times in the game. No drugs, anti-sleep meds, or anything other than food was permitted (but the food was amazing for the small times you got to shovel some in on the break).

It was covered by the media, local newspapers and even aired on Playboy TV .. so as much as I'd like to merit these guys at 50 hours, they're not even close to the 99 hours the players in the link above endured.

How do I know this? I was there, and I was one of the people who made it the 99 hours playing the game without sleeping, and I was awake 118 hours total before I got to sleep since the media had to interview us, take pictures, do the presentation and then provided an awards dinner which naturally occurred right when the contest ended instead of letting us sleep first.
 
Meh, knew a few people that would stay away for two days at a time at least, then sleep for a full day.

They managed to level some WoW characters pretty quick
 
Such a croc. This is just a Bunch of Noob players that just have not played for a long time.
I regularly played over 50 hours playing Everquest ..
(sigh, I have over 400 days played in EQ.. that is at least 9,600 hours. And no, I do not play EQ any more.
So the answer is.. this is Another Stupid post by a reporter with NO clue on what has been acomplished. and for sure my exploits are not in the extreem .. there were players I know of that went for over 1 week.. GET IT RIGHT TOM's bunh of NOOBS.

The MMORPG world is FULL of chicks, and even hot ones, I didn't believe it either, but a friend of mine showed me the chicks he had as friends on his profile on 12sky. And they were real too, with papers with his name on them (coz he didn't believe them either at first) This was 3 years ago, when 12 sjy was still playable.
 
I finished Warcraft III - Frozen throne Expansion in a 73h no sleep play with ofc 15 min max food break/toilet break. 50h is child's play.
 
Shit I should go for this record. 10 minutes is easily long enough to snort a line and smoke a foil.. I could blow this record out of the water. LOL. But seriously that is the only way I could do that anymore.
