not sure what it will look like, for those low-income people

IMHO, If a person can afford a $60 (Wal-Mart) 13" color TV,
they can also afford a $50 DTV STB.

Everybody's throwing numbers around. According to the LATimes,
http://makeashorterlink.com/?Q6C614C6B
the number of _households_ that will lose TV access is as high as 20%.
(The Consumer Electronics Association is using total _set_ numbers, which
is skewed by the number of households with multiple TVs, leading to the
lower 12% number in the news.com article.)

What bugs me is the background stupidity level. The LATimes article twice
compares this change to "the transition to color more than 40 years ago".
Leaving out the slightly off timeline, unless they're making a reference
to the very-short-lived and failed CBS color system, this change is
nothing like that at all. No one had to buy new equipment to watch the
"compatible color" (as they were called way back when) broadcasts. I can't
tell whether this is misinformation or just young know-it-alls spouting
off.
