I have an a 6950 2GB Dirt 3 card. The one I got was an Antilies, wich does not unlock. I ordered another one today and was wondering if it is a Cayman and I can unlock it, Could I still crossfire the cards? One having more shaders than the other. I also can send back my Antilies and hope to get a cayman. So basically I am wondering if an unlocked 6950 and a non unlocked 6950 can be crossfired.

If you unlock it, it will no longer be seen on a hardware level as a 6950.

Also, the fact that 1 card would be faster than the other would cause micro-stuttering to be more pronounced, as the second card would take longer than the first to render.

xFire / SLI works by having 2 (or more) cards that perform the same (hence it being locked to identical models) in order to keep sync.

ahhh ok. So would it be worth the time unlocking and sending the other one back and hopeing to unlock, or to be happy with 2 6950s? Also the if one is Antilies and one is a Cayman I could still crossfire that?

Awesome, thanks guys. I won't worry about unlocking. Can't wait :D

On a side note, anyone having issues with the 11.10 preview drivers? I can't load my CCC with 11.10, but I can with 11.9. Anyone else know anything about it? I looked around but have not found anything to fix it.

I have 2 of the dirt 3 6950's as well, both unlocked the shaders just by switching the bios switch,I did leave the clock speeds stock, playing BF3 all settings on ultra and hbao off, averaging a steady 70-80 fps.on 11.9 drivers.

I did roll them back to 11.9 and it works again. I'll wait for release, which they say is Monday. They also say the driver is pretty much the same though so fingers crossed CCC works.
