I think it depends on the format the video was originally made in, I am not sure what has been changed as I used to get 5.1 in win 7 but since win 10, I have been fighting to get more than stereo unless I use a setting on my speakers that creates fake virtual surround. If video is recorded in 5.1 I get all speakers.

I attempted to play a few of those "supposedly" surround youtube videos and there are BIG DISCLAIMERS on the bottom "WE ARE SENDING YOU STEREO ONLY!"

HIGHLY SKEPTICAL you kids relying on youtube for your surround experience/tests.

Don't have DVD/Blueray to test like normal people?

'Cuz wee geezers have real DISCS, real surround.

Just the other day some "kid" asked why what I use the laptop for? and I got a slim, notepad-like Macbook Air, so I was startled for a few seconds then realize this "kid" uses his phablet for everything. I personally can't do that, my geezer's eyes won't allow and frankly I can't immerse in a movie unless am watching it on my 55" and my theater (not-PC) speakers. YMMV.

i have a Galaxy S7, but recently can't see anything on screen without my glasses on. I never got a laptop as I like big screens and surround sound - you can get that on them now but I can't afford the cost.

funny watched a vid last year explaining to kids what cassette tapes were and how they worked... suddenly felt old :)

i found what it was and how to fix it. it was that i was using chrome and i found a link to some settings (wich i have unfortunatley lost) and i searched (using ctrl + f) for surround and it came up with an option to enable surrround sound suppoer if in avalable format because it is disabled at factory settings so yea. i will try to find the link but it definatley worked :p thanks tho for all of your support
