I'm currently choosing between MSI GT72VR(1060)and Asus Rog G751jy(980m)

The difference is around $220 if I get the 1060. Is it worth?

Solution
Yes it certainly is worth the upgrade. A 980m is a mobile version of the 980 (which isn't close to a actual 980 at all). The 1060 is a full 1060 that performs the same as a full desktop 980.

Well considering the 980M is a cut-down version of the desktop 970 GTX (yes 970 not 980), while the 1060m is truly a GTX 1060 means you are getting about 10-20% more fps with the 1060. Not to mention lower power and heat which is really good for a laptop.

Its worth it if you plan on gaming at max settings and care about heat.

You would get screen tearing on both without vsync on. But you get a lot less of it when your video card can consistently put out 60fps or more which the 1060 can do for sure.
