A Guide to Fixing Common Issues on Your Roku Device

The Roku is an amazing device but like any technology, it can face issues at times. The most common is a connection problem. This is usually a fault with the internet connection fault. Read on to find out how you can solve common connection issues on your Roku device.

1. Roku cannot connect to your wireless network
In this case, your Roku device is not connected to your internet network. An error code will appear on your screen, accompanied by a message that gives instructions on how to solve this issue.
Following the prompt on your screen lets you find out if your router is working properly. Make sure it is turned on, and indicating it is connected to the internet. If not, unplug it from the wall and restart it for a stronger and better internet connection.

2. Roku indicates that internet connection is lost
This is another common connection problem that Roku devices face. A message in a black box will appear on your screen to warn you you’ve lost internet connection and cannot stream.
To get your Roku device back online, visit the ‘Settings’ page. On that page select ‘ Network ‘ then choose ‘Set up connection’. This prompts you to set up your internet connection again, and get your Roku device back online.

3. When your Roku devices are not on the correct network
Your Roku devices should be on the same network to successfully stream content. People sometimes have different networks at home for different reasons. When your Roku device is not on the correct network, or senses the presence of a different network, it will lead to a connection error. A pop up box will appear with the list of available networks your Roku device can connect to. Select your Roku network and your connection problem will be solved.

4. Your network signal is strong but you still have a connection problem
The internet signal on your router can be strong but Roku still has a connection problem. To enhance the connection and solve this problem, you need to unplug everything and restart. Unplug your router, then plug it back in after a minute and make sure the signal is strong. To restart your Roku device, go to ‘Settings’, then ‘System’ then ‘System Restart’. When this is process is complete, you will be able to get back to your entertainment.
