Hello, Maggie:

I fully understand that uploading images can be a challenge, so instead take a look at this YouTube video. It's a tear-down of an Acer Aspire 5741G.

Now, go to:
6:36 [Power Button Cable] - is that the 'power strip cable clip' you're talking about?
8:18 [USB Board Cable] - is that the 'usb cable clip' you're talking about?

A power button with cable is available on eBay - although you need to spend some time making sure the small power board is the right size as well as the connector head. It would look something like this (just an example!)...

A power button with cable is available on eBay - although you need to spend some time making sure the small power board is the right size as well as the connector head. It would look something like this (just an example!):

http://www.ebay.com/itm/ACER-ASPIRE-5552-5552-P344G50MNKK-SCHEDA-POWER-BUTTON-BOARD-CON-FLAT-LS-6582P-/272122642103?hash=item3f5bc5feb7:g:F~cAAOSwJb9WsN6S

Similarly, a USB cable can be purchased on eBay and would look something like this:

http://www.ebay.com/itm/PUERTO-USB-Board-Acer-Aspire-5741-LS-5891P-/302170597920?hash=item465ac56a20:g:7iIAAOSwux5YV6Uj

Buying a used mainboard won't give you any of these cables because they're treated as separate components or spare parts. Also, if you manage to find an exact match for both cables I recommend you enlist the assistance of a pretty tech-savvy person to perform the replacements.

Cheers,
GreyCatz.

Hi GreyCatz
Many thanks for your kind response

I have the power button and cable also the usb board and cable both are working fine

Its the little brn or white plastic retaining clips that you release with the screwdriver to replace the strip then push the little retaining clip to keep it in place

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dyiBj19Eyb4&t=333s

6.33 loosing of the retainer clip to remove the power button cable

8.17 loosing of the retainer clip to remove the usb cable

these are what were broken by the previous owners

many thanks for your time and youtube links
Maggie

My goodness! I must have been completely asleep at the wheel... I only now realize that I linked the exact same YT video from your original post - I am so sorry! Especially because I can only offer this mainboard from a Canadian eBay seller:

http://www.ebay.com/itm/Gateway-NV59C-Acer-TM5740-Motherboard-G1-NEW70-LA-5892P-with-I3-Intel-CPU-/162377242871?hash=item25ce7018f7:g:eek:d8AAOSwImRYj5~9

From what I can see, the plastic retainers are there, but I don't know if they can be supplanted from one board to another. And $79 is quite a lot of money for two very small bits of plastic.

I hope I haven't wasted your time.

Edit: The link appears invisible, but it actually works.

Hi Greycatz

No you haven't wasted my time at all
Thank you for your imput

I Edited my ist post using the same youtube link as I was watching that one
when I dismantled the laptop once I received it from the previous owner

I have stripped a few and cleaned out the fans then put fresh artic silver on the cpu to help
with the cooling

I come from a large family of laptop users and look after all of them

I have replaced a few of these retaining clips before when a very kind gentleman sent me some for a Toshiba board

and yes I wouldn't spent a silly amount of money on a replacement board just for the retaining clips

many thanks for your input

Maggie
