My dad has an Acer Aspire 5742 (z I think). He's had it for around 2 years now and it's never broken, blue screened or anything. He lent it to my younger brother who managed to crack the screen, I ordered a brand new one for him and fitted it myself making sure to put everything back exactly how I found it.
Though the trouble is the Laptop seems to boot up, just doesn't display a picture, even when plugged into HDMI or VGA. The hard drive spins up, lights come on and the CD tray seems active too, I've tried to Google in case this happens a lot with this model but found nothing.
What could be causing this and is there a possible fix?
