The piece of plastic that is connecting my laptop screen with the keyboard has snapped and I cannot close my laptop, it was working fine for a couple of weeks after it happened but now it charges and the blue light flashes and the fan goes on and off but whatever I do the screen stays black and doesn't work at all

Solution
It sounds like something internal got damaged, or disconnected, and that is causing the black screen.

If the laptop is under warranty still, then you should contact the manufacturer about a repair or replacement.

If it isn't still under warranty, then you will need to open it up and check the ribbon cable that connects the display. Make sure it isn't damaged, torn, pinched, loose, disconnected, etc. You would need to repair/replace this yourself, or take it to someone who can.
