Acer Aspire lap top won't work properly when the charger is plugged in

when my Acer Aspire lap top is on charge it doesn't work properly. web sites won't load and games run slowly. Any ideas?

Check you power settings by pressing the keys:

Win+X if you're on windows 8 or above a list will appear on the bottom right corner. Select "Mobility Center". You can change the power usage profile in this menu.
