It's priced at $330 (8GB) or 350GB (16GB). The 10.1-inch A500 currently retails for $400 on Newegg.

I see. (Pulls out 1TB drive to trade in for two of these)

overpriced. needs to be around $160-$200. For the price of this tablet, you can get a full laptop with a faster CPU, more memory, more storage, a full OS, with many more features.

A laptop is not a (substitute for a) tablet. People who want laptops will not buy tablets instead and vice versa.

I understand that people wanting a tablet will not get a laptop but it is also important to know that the price markup on a tablet is significantly higher than that of a laptop. Basically, their price is artificially inflated to a point where they leave their price/ functionality bracket and enter into the low to mid range laptop market

Well, for say say the money on ideas of a laptop, what kind of laptop are you really going to be getting though?

I can understand things be high priced for what they are sometimes, but it though is kinda like where is the comparison at.

Tablets cover interests of course probably more then that of a laptop at times, but what is that interest though, with what is out there for it at times??

I don't have a tablet but to say on some interests shopping for one would be very interesting at times for the ideas of money spent for what is there, cause you'd have to say that in a place of interest ofr what that would be at anytime that thre is that of an incling interest for it as well, when you find an interest for whatever tha might be as well for what it could be as well at times.

Money spent is money spent but it to say that only for maybe a place of mistype of only as well placed for what else would be included for a difference of interest and what is or isn't included for the price.

But agree, for the price at times, why not get a laptop. Here would say though for the price the idea of a laptop, is probably more placed for that of just a netbook or maybe tablet pc maybe even depending upon where there goes at at times of course but of it probably then the most with it when it comes down to it. But thought does carry for itself for an interest to say maybe the most.

Cause if you take some comparison into contrast to say, for the money, why not even get a smartphone and talk about it?? Obviously the 2 yr or pls or less contract says the difference of course, but for even some of the money saved might give you a few months.

So of tablets what is going on at least though. Are prices dropping for what they are or are they going up or staying the same, getting more , less, or the same. Or different to say even maybe. Hard saying or telling really alot of times more then not.

It's strange to see comments that the price is artificially inflated. I don't know of many low-mid range laptops with touch screens or Lithium-polymer batteries.

Because a notebook is not the same as a tablet. Show *US* a notebook that is 1.5lbs (or less) with an 8hr battery life, instant ON with internet access within 2-5 seconds.

Lol, this article is a joke and full of misinformation.

The tablet has 1gb of RAM, not 512mb. It also has Android 3.2, not 3.0.

No way it would be worth it with only 512mb ram.

Irrespective of whether you think the price is high (because standing here in Sweden the dollar is relatively undervalued so it looks like they are giving these away, the value of technology over time is in the design interface and the form factor. All technology becomes obsolete over time as new products offer better faster performance, however an interface that works with a form factor that is well designed has a value beyond depreciation. I remember buying an Acer Aspire in 1995 and kept it running for 9 years (despite having several other computers) because it was so well designed. I think Acer always finds a way to pack reasonably competitive features with good design and there are people that love this brand and its design including myself.
