Acer laptop display goes black after power on with ac adapter and battery

If I power on my Acer laptop with both an ac adapter and battery , the dispay goes black after a few seconds but the laptop is working and the battery is charging.If I disconnect the adapter, the display is back and all is working properly. Please, I need an explanation and a possible solution.Thank you.
