Acer laptop third light flashes and not turn on

Laptop fell over and won't. Ome on third light keeps blinking

Try removing the battery and turn it on with mains electric power only. Was it connected to anything when it fell - a USB device or network cable plugged in, for example?

I removed the battery in order to get it to restart and only thing plugged in was the power cord. It tries to start then goes to screen saying cannot restart with 3 options to return to windows ( which didn't work) advanced settings which asks me to save files or not and shut down it was windows 8 but have moved and cannot located discs and shut down.

It's probably best to remove the hard disk and slave it to another PC so you can rescue your personal files. Reinstalling Windows will be easy enough and it will activate when it completes.

Microsoft's website has ISO downloads for Windows 8 and 8.1. It might be necessary to replace that hard disk if it shows any signs of faults when you remove your data and when you format it before putting back in the laptop.
