Acer laptop w/Realtek HD audio onboard Mic settings

I am trying to record my spoken voice using onboard mic & playback using Windows media player. It records but playback has lots of feedback & static, any setting suggestions?

Are you using your laptop's built-in mic? It's better to buy a dedicated microphone, as they ensure better recording quality.
