Acer laptop will not accept installation disc

I try to put a family tree installation program disc into my Acer laptop & although I can hear it working, it stops. A message appears saying < X D:\is not available. Access is denied. Could you please help me with this.

do other DVDs work in your drive? what is the model of your laptop? also are there any scratches on the DVD?

the other DVDs don't work either. model of laptop is Acer Aspire 5334. there aren't any scratches on the DVD, & it's brand new.

Right click My Computer or Computer and go to properties. Go to Device Manager or the equivalent of that. Find you Dvd/Cd Drive. Right click, and then scan for hardware changes. That should bring it up and this is very simple to do.

If not reinstall the driver, thats almost always a fix.

Hi,
The first instructions did not help, so I reinstalled the driver & as you said almost always a fix.
You were absolutely right! It accepted the disc!!!
I am so very grateful to you, as I have a large amount of work input in my Family Tree over many years, so now I can use it.
