I tried to do a factory restore. My system would only read 3% of the disk. How can I do a factory default restore without the disk. The Alt F10 does not work either. sorry my system is the Acer Aspire 5517 and the OS is windows 7 Home

You can download a copy from the following link:

• Windows 7 Home Premium (x64) - X17-58997
http://msft.digitalrivercontent.net/win/X17-58997.iso

Make sure you get a USB that is preferabbly 8GB or more. Delete all the contents from it.
You will download a very big iso file. Once the download is done use the following program imgburn.
Burn the iso to the usb. Go to your acer computer and boot to bios. Find an option where it says boot from usb.
You will then see windows 7 installation instructions. Follow the instructions and you should be done

ImgBurn - In addtion to supporting the creation of CD's from .ISO files,
it supports a wide range of other image file formats, and it's free.
(BIN, CUE, DI, DVD, GI, IMG, MDS, NRG, PDI and ISO)

Note: Always use the slowest burn speed (4x or 2x) if offered a choice.
