I have a 2 active speakers I want to use in conjunction with the optical on my receiver(Computer>optical>receiver>RCA connection to what?>active speakers). The speakers have Both RCA(balanced?) and quater inch unbalanced outputs. The optical is going from my computer to the receivers video 1 in. The receiver doesn't have any quater " connections, only RCA, however I do have quater to RCA converters if need be. What should I connect the RCA from the speakers to on the receiver?

As kanewolf says you can use the analog out of the PC but if you want to improve the sound quality and use the optical output you will need a DAC to convert digital optical to analog for your speakers. There a lot of these at a huge spread of price. Many use USB instead of optical. Here is one example
