Current headset is Corsair Vengeance 1500. The drivers are just terrible and I'm looking to replace them with something new. I was really considering the HyperX Cloud IIs, but have decided to buy a separate mic for better quality (Blue Snowball for now, probably get a Yeti later on at some point).

Since I wont be needing the mic on the Cloud IIs, I was wondering if headphones would be a better option for the same price or less (~$100).

Primary use will be for PC gaming. Bluetooth would be good for watching movies without having to sit right by the computer but not necessary.

I use it for professional gaming.
Comes with extension cord, solid frame, has volume controller, with mute button, and removeable mic.
can be bought for rougly $59.99

Headphones will get you much better quality over gaming headsets! I would recommend Sennheiser or Audio Technica. I have seen these drop down to $99 on amazon at times. If you are going high quality mic, you might as well upgrade to a real set of headphones, and both these models are top notch for around $100. My HD 558's have always performed above and beyond the gaming headsets I used to have.

I have to agree on the 558's, awesome set of headphones for the price. I love mine and always wear them. Just as good for watching movies etc on the PC too.

Here's another vote for the 558's being good headphones. There is also the brainwavz hm5 and all of its rebrands are good too. Just a note 558's are open back, so if isolation is important to you then it is something to take into consideration.
