It seems I have been infected by adware, it seems to have installed itself on both Internet Explorer and chrome. I have ran adwcleaner and it detects some adware but then they always come back. I'm lost for what to try next

Have you done specific searches? Example: Typing "How to remove Smart new tab" in a search engine. There are specific removal guides for many known hard to remove malware, that are known to work, and some say the "Smart New tab" virus is not hard to remove, so one of the google search results should work... one of the results (https://howtoremove.guide/smart-new-tab-virus-removal/) recommends removing it in Safe Mode, so also AdwCleaner may be able to do the job in safe mode... suggestion I already gave and you seem to have ignored.

Also you should never go online without antivirus protection, that's like playing a virtual russian rulete... and you may have many more than one malwares depending on the time you browsed without an...

You should indeed google the specific adware name, you'll find a few forums that will guide you in the process of removing the adware. IF this doesn't work try some kind of quick anti rootkit programs or something.

Problem is I have tried a few things, ran adwcleaner, reset browser, ran anti virus software etc etc. All guides on how to remove them haven't worked. I think I'm dealing with multiple adware. I get random new tabs with adverts on them when I click sometimes, bing opens new tabs, and also a bing search bar comes up if I search anything.

AdwCleaner should work... in hard cases you're supposed to run it in safe mode.

If still no success:
1. Disable startup programs from Start > Run or search and type: "msconfig" and hit Enter > startup tab > unmark unknown and/or unnecessary processes > Apply > Accept > Restart...
2. Scan again with AdwCleaner in safe mode.

If adware is still not removed permanently:
1. Control Panel > Programs and Features > search for unknown programs that may have installed without your knowledge or consent... (they may download/install the adware)
2. Check again msconfig and disable apps as necessary,
3. Repeat scan with AdwCleaner in Safe Mode

To logon in Safe Mode:
Immediately after the BIOS post finishes, press the F8 key repeatedly once per second untill the Safe Mode options list appears on screen > Select Safe Mode or Safe Mode with Networking.

Adwcleaner seems to work, I do a scan and it appeared with v9 and trovi in the search browser folder of chrome and removed them, but problem persists, I get pop up ads in new tabs when I click sometimes, as well as bing opening every link and a bing search bar when I search

Download Malwarebytes instead and run that. Antivirus is like a Dr, you don't get the Dr. to help you stop getting SPAM Faxes or Junk Mail in your mailbox do you? That is what Malware is, the 'junk' stuff adverts to get you to do things that make them money in someway, so Antivirus doesn't 'see it' as it doesn't 'damage' files normally just 'trick you' into doing things.

Secondly what Antivirus are you using. If you say 'the one that came with the computer', unless you regularly pay for the subscription which gave out 30days later, it is useless. I would suggest removing the Antivirus (and not sure about your Adwcleaner, I never heard of it before and wary on some of them) and try Avira, AVG or Panda , all are free and are highly recommended by their success rates.

All utility files like these can be found on www.filehippo.com, listing the latest version to make it easier for you.

If AdwCleaner seems to work, (removes all the scan results)... but they return again, check my last answer update for further actions to remove adware.. IF all that doesn't work, you may have to disable System Restore to permanently remove the adware as it/they can hide in the System Restore folder and come back later, or get reinstalled by malicious software so check my last update and apply everything... and if you don't want to disable System Restore or can't (Windows 10 Home), you may have to scan your system from outside Windows... run the antivirus in boot scan, and/or download the Hiren's Boot CD to run security programs... I seem to recall it includes AdwCleaner. Will check and confirm.

AdwCleaner is the best at removing adware, its widely recommended, perfectly safe and better than other security software that are not particularly designed to remove adware. I used AdwCleaner to remove a stubborn adware that had set a start page on all my browsers, and nothing else could even find it.. not even Malwarebytes which I normally use for every type of malware.
