Greetings,

I admit, I am a complete philistine in the world of video editing and by relation, to the specs a decent laptop would require for me to (effectively) use an editing program.

My budget is around the $800 mark and I might be able to go upwards to the $1000 limit, but nothing moe than that. Can anybody recommend a couple of models that would fit within this cost limits and have the necesary specs that will allow me to run most of the common editing softwares out there?

Any specific brands or models I should be looking out for?

Many thanks in advance.

Lorne.

Well, are you going to be editing 4K videos?
If so, you'll need a laptop with a 4K display
4K or not I would get an IPS display. (Either on an external monitor or the laptop screen)

The Levnovo ThinkPad W540 has the option for an IPS 3K display and also boasts a workstation graphics card.
