That one is a fake, someone just took some of those pictures and photoshopped a gun in after messing with the quality.

and row 2, 3 from the left.

Again, these pictures are just what they are letting the public see. That does not mean that this quality of image is all that these machines are capable of. After all they have lied to us about the ability of these machines to record and transmit these images.

[citation][nom]darkknight22[/nom]whatever, it's not like the guy is sitting back there getting off on this stuff. if this means i dont have to be practically naked to walk through a metal detector then so-be-it.[/citation]

You don't know what people are getting themselves off with today. There are some sick people out there that will surely take this.

This is an issue with privacy...or the lack there of. When are you willing to step forward and say no more? When they have scanners in place that are able to see through clothes?

I am interested in seeing someone file child pornography laws against them. Not like it would ever go to trial...but maybe it would get media attention.

[citation][nom]nebun[/nom]ha ha ha you can see their private parts, lol. so much for the so much loved freedom. US is becoming more and more like a communist country day by day. this is bull, but if someone wants to get off to a naked image of me then let them do it, it doesn't hurt me, lol. i guess everyone needs an hobby[/citation]

Hey there smarty, you did read that this is for the UK, right?

Sure, I agree, I'd expect the US to do this as well. However, that doesn't take away from the fact that people would rather just assume it's the US, rather than read the actual story. /shrug

The worst thing is that the so called "ghostly images" are actually quite detailed images of your naked body. You can read below about the experience of a woman flying from Manchester.

http://blogs.telegraph.co.uk/news/peterfoster/3627761/Buttnaked_at_Heathrow/

And Just a secon thought - if you can be fairly positive that your naked images, your wife's or your kid's naked images would not be saved and kept at a UK or an USA airport what about going through these scanners at a Russian, a Chienese ariport or lets say Romanian airport (as one of the new EU members), would you be so sure then?

Flying is a privilege not a right. Who cares if they see your who who. I'd rather feel safer on a plane. My biggest gripe would be if it takes additional time not whether or not some pervert can see my package.

[citation][nom]back_by_demand[/nom]I'm sure it would create a whole new genre of porn for the net, instead of looking for "blow job" and "barely legal" people can search for "airport scanner".[/citation]

Yep, I think "scannerporn" or "airporn" would sound even more 'romantic' ... :)

Imagine a conversation
"Hay, mate, have you downloaded any new scannerporn recently?"
:)

[citation][nom]grieve[/nom]What type of training do i need to become an Airport scanner person?[/citation]

You need certain skills ...
Should be able to get an erection looking at black and white 'ghostly' images.
It will be a plus if you can quickly come up with funny comments and text to colleagues
:)

Hey if I wanted an X-Ray, I would go to my Dr. There's a reason why your dentist goes to hide behind a lead-lined wall when he fires the X-Ray. All of the people operating these machines will start coming down with all kinds of problems like cancer. The one time I flew through Heathrow, it was a bit of a nightmare, but only in the annoying way, not in the fry your guts with ionizing radiation way.

[citation][nom]Burodsx[/nom]Well if someone wants to see you that badly then maybe that's a compliment. Personally I'd rather give up some privacy rather than to have my plane explode mid-air.[/citation]
You are the problem. These machines stop nobody. It's just a big government check handed over to these imaging firms to perpetuate this Security Theater.

There were only two effective security measures enacted since 9/11. They reinforced the cockpit door and passengers became intollerant of odd behavior. The shoe bomber, the underwear bomber, and the liquid bombers were all stopped by metal detectors (nobody had detonators) and alert passengers.

Airport security is done best in Israel. Every employee in the airport is trained as a security screener, and they monitor people's behavior, not their underwear contents.
