My daughters pop 4 had a message saying storage space running out. She tried to login to her phone to free up some space but cannot get the keyboard to show at password prompt. Have rebooted phone several times - removed battery etc - and yet still no keyboard comes up at password prompt so cannot type in her password. So now we cannot either free up space or even use the phone as it's completely inaccessible. Any ideas please? We're still waiting to hear back from Alcatel help line.
With thanks.

Solution
First try turning it off, pulling the battery, the SIM (if it has one) and the SD card (if it has one of those). Leave it that way for about a minute and then put everything back and see if it will let you in. If so, then it is time to start cleaning off the phone. Delete things off of it, or move things like pictures, videos, etc., to a computer or cloud account, and off the phone.

You could also try to connect the phone via USB to a computer and see if you can access it. If so, you can free up some of the storage on the device by moving photos, videos, music, etc., to the computer (which it is always good to do anyway so you don't lose them) and then restart the phone.

If either of the first two work for you, you should also...

If either of the first two work for you, you should also consider going through the apps and making sure there isn't anything on there that is causing problems for the phone and using up way to much memory.

If it won't let you do any of the above then you may be stuck doing a full "Hard Reset". That is not the best option, and should only be used as a last resort. Why? Well it removes 'all' your personal data from the device.

NOTE: Doing this will clear 'all' the data on your phone, so it is suggested you not choose this option unless you have to, or aren't worried about losing anything on the phone.

Be sure you back up any data you want to keep, to a computer or cloud account, before doing the reset.

To "Hard Reset" the phone...

1. Make sure that the phone is actually powered off.

2. Press the "Power" and the "Volume Up" buttons, together, until you see the start-up logo on the screen.

3. Once you can see the logo, release the buttons and allow the device to enter the "System Recovery Mode".

4. Next use "Volume Down" button to get to the "wipe data/factory reset" option When in recovery mode the "Volume Up" and "Volume Down" buttons are how to can navigate and highlight what option you need.

5. Once you have selected the "wipe data/factory reset", press the "Power" button to select that option.

6. On the following screen, repeatedly press the "Volume Down" button until the "Yes - delete all user data" option is what is selected.

7. Then press the "Power" button to hard reset the phone.
