Alien ware m17x r3 gpu compatibilitys

I don't know much. But I'm looking for an upgrade on my alien ware m17x r3. I have a AMD hd Radeon 6900 gpu. And looking to upgrade. The best one I know that's compatible is the GTX 780. I'm looking to upgrade to something more recent like a 980. And wondering where I can get one for this and if it'll work.

I've checked online for any M17x R3 upgrade with a 980m but there's nothing yet, all there is are GTX 780 upgrade.
