I was always under the impression that Alienware laptops are overpriced garbage. With this in mind, I was searching for a 17 inch gaming laptop (I prefer large screens and am currently in the market for a new gaming laptop because I need mobility), and it appears to me that the Alienware 17 R5 is a surprisingly good value.
I can get an i7-8750H, an overclocked GTX 1070, a 120Hz QHD G-SYNC screen with Tobii Eyetracking, 16 GB Ram, a 256GB PCIe M.2 SSD and 1TB 7200rpm HDD, and a 99Wh battery all for $2200.
I was expecting the competition to have similar spec laptops at a much lower price given Alienware's terrible reputation, but Sager, Xidax, Aorus, etc. seem to be ripoffs compared to the Alienware I am looking at.
Please tell me that I am wrong. I really want the best value for the purchase I am going to make in the near future. Am I missing something?
