So I've been looking into a new laptop and decided on this one- http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16834152711&cm_re=ge62-_-34-152-711-_-Product
But, the price rose from $1,099 to $1299, And there's no way I can spend that atm as my current budget is around $1,250 with the two year accidental newegg warranty. But I found what seems like the perfect replacement, minus the CPU...- http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16834299318&cm_re=alienware-_-34-299-318-_-Product
Anyway, I need to know how well that CPU will preform, will it bottleneck the 965m? and if I get a 290x with the Graphics Amp will I see extreme bottlenecking? And if I did get my hands on that 290x do you think it could handle my setup at 5760x1080?
I'm sorry for mentioning the forbidden brand, and ask you don't kick me from the forums.
P.s. I understand laptops aren't the best in gaming, I have a gaming desktop but need something that's somewhat portable due to summer gaming in different locations. Thank you for any comments and replies.

Pffft, forbidden brand...if someone hasn't tried one (of anything) then they shouldn't speak ill of it lol. I have the Alienware 14 and it's been great to me. A little large but decent performance and price competitive with anything else I could have gotten. As for the i5 it may bottleneck a 290x, not too sure about the 965m though I doubt it.

I won't deny my trash talking to Alienware xD, though it was mostly in jealousy of their cases lol. As for the 290x I'm mainly going on a shot in the dark their, I plan on buying the GPU Amp later on and doing some testing with it, I was mainly hoping to achieve something to the nature that would hopefully help me get rid of my desktop... My 9590Fx and crossfire 270x's are both destroying people on the battlefield and the temps. in my room. But as for the laptop I definitely plan on getting it due to it's price, but I just hate seeing that i5 in there... Do you think it would be worth it to try saving up for an i7 model... which I'll guess would be around 14 hundred to 15? Thank you for the reply btw.

I have the i7 4700mq in mine....total waste on the GTX 765m lol....as in absolutely gpu bound. That i5 or something similar was also available....but dual core threw me off (former fx8350 owner). I would check some reviews of various rigs with i5/i7 and the same gpu, it will be telling.

I sorta have a love for cores (hence the 9590Fx) I have done some light video work with Sony Vegas aswell so it's always nice to have the power there.

Ah, I will definitely look into them both, i've never had anything below an i7 so it will be a life changing move xD But I'm currently using a G74sx with a 560m GPU so I'll almost take anything I can get my hands on, especially Alienware, as for the build, how has yours held up?

I wish intel would offer up a straight quad for mobile....or do they? i5 dual with HT to i7 quad with HT *shakes head*

I feel Intel just puts whatever they want in the mobile world now, due to the fact that you almost never see any Gaming or High-End laptops with AMD CPUs. Though I suppose the laptops are hot enough already, why make them hotter with an AMD CPU?

I swear I'm an idiot, men't to press reply and I hit solve... Anyway I have enjoyed mine but I'm somewhat ready to move on with other brands.

I've heard good stuff about thru ROGs, really for the most part you are gonna get the same with each brand plus a dash of their individual design flavor. I mean, theres gonna be duds with bad cooling etc, but since most of them are based off a similar chassis from pick-your-odm I didn't worry too much. Picked the one I liked which met my needs at the time, research reviews and warranty/customer service, dust cobwebs off wallet and purchase. Been running that Alienware like a , well you know, and it only had one issue which was driver related (optimus), fixed in next release from NVIDIA.

Edit: touchscreen's suck, leaving typo's as proof...

I enjoyed my ROG but the thing is... for the price of the ROG which for me is bulkier than the Alienware 17 (comparing the G750 and G751) and not only that but the specs arn't exactly on par, in my budget I can get an G750-51 with 860m 2GB or an Alienware 17 970m. Oh, I guess I forgot to mention, I've really set my heart on the new Alienwares due to the GPU Amp and have decided to get a 17in. with the 970m and i7. I've always liked the Alienware bodies more than the ROG line and only got my G74 because it was the best I could afford, but I will say, Asus knows how to build a gaming laptop, but for my taste the Alienware's body and components will fit into my budget alot nicer! :)

If you are referring to the mobile Radeon R9 M290X, then the answer is a definitive no... unless maybe you use low graphics quality on for non-graphically intensive games like DOTA 2 or Fifa 15. See below link for benchmarks.

Oh, no, I was referring to running the Alienware laptop with the Graphics Amp using a desktop 290x GPU.
