Alienware M17xR4 laptop. Updated the GPU from Nvidia GeForce GTX 680M to 980M. It currently isn't working, not showing up as being installed through "Device Manager" it just says "Standard VGA Graphics Adapter" where it previously said "Nvidia GeForce GTX 680M". In the BIOS it says Nvidia GFX. My "GeForce Experience" isn't working and the Nvidia website cant find the device when i try to manually install the driver. Any advice?

Solution
try to do a clean install, use DDU: www.guru3d.com/files-details/display-driver-uninstaller-download.html

then reinstall driver for 980M, just select the latest driver, you don't need Nvidia to select it for you
