Alienware R5 - SSD + HDD - is it possible?

Since I had very little time when purchasing my m17x R5 in the USA, they only had the 1925$ one available on stock, so I went with that option.

Sadly, it has no SSD. My previous R1, I got 5 years ago, has both an SSD and an HDD. Can I install both of these on my new laptop, or is that impossible since I would keep the HDD for my files and collateral stuff, but would move all of my good programs on the SSD.

Is there an installation guide for it somewhere so that I can see what steps I should take to install it?

The m17x Series starting with the R4 Supports two 2.5 drives and an mSATA card. M17x R1-R3 supports two 2.5 drives.

The mSATA drive can be used for cache or as a normal drive.

You can add a third 2.5 drive by replacing the optical bay.

Ok, based on what you said, the mSata is the internal SSD - so I should buy that. But you said a third drive. I don't need a third drive. Currently I only have an HDD.

Also, your reply was based on the R4. The one I currently have is an R5 - or the Alienware 17 - as advertised. http/en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Alienware - I just bought it. I'm not sure your answer fits the bill. But i'll look into an mSata and if I can add one of those.

There is no such thing as an R5, You have an R4 MLK. Also the chassis on the R3 and R4 are almost exactly the same so the instructions apply to both.

Yes if you look at the hd instructions your 2.5 ssd will fit in one of the two open 2.5 slots fine.

What is an R4 MLK... Ok, the chassis is completely different from the R4. You are clearly unsure, but have just sustained your point without checking. First thing - my alienware, does not have a removable battery. Second, the wiki tells you R5 just came out, and I explained that as well.

Based on what your link showed me, that laptop is similar to my R1. This one, that I just purchased now, like I said, has nothing similar to that one. So then again I ask. Are you sure of what you are saying? I won't be opening this thing up and see something completely different?

Sadly I just joined so I did not know. Kudos to your superior knowledge and much appreciated for the info. My last question then on the matter is http/www.amazon.co.uk/Corsair-CSSD-N256GB3-BK-256GB-Neutron-Solid/dp/B00B2X312S/ref=pd_sim_sbs_computers_6 would this be an ok ssd for my configuration. I have the 750 GB hdd that I would use for storing work and files and would like to install my programs and software on the corsair.
