Hello,

Looking to upgrade my super old laptop... was looking into alienware and obviously prices get alittle outrageous, specifically with RAM. So i'm wondering, all M11x laptops have the same MB in it right? So I can buy it with the cheapest ram they have, and upgrade it myself to max? same with HD, can I buy cheapest and upgrade myself?....

sooo I guess im asking, what is all changeable (easily, or meant to be upgrade-able) in an Alienware M11x?

OR

What's another top end laptop out there that I can get, use is going to be 3D graphics work mainly and gaming while traveling.
*edit* Specifically Maya, ZBrush, 3DSMax, Modo*

Thanks!

Hello Akkah;

Running programs like Maya, ZBrush, 3DSMax, Modo are better suited to powerful graphics workstation.
Alienware M11x does not meet that criteria.

IMO, you'd be better off saving the money for a new notebook.

What kind of budget do you want to work with?

HP EliteBook 8560w has an AMD FirePro M5950. It is a workstation laptop designed for those programs. I think they run a bit over $2000.
