Ok, so for a while, i've wanted to have a 3.5mm audio jack nearer to me for convenience, but it seem a lot harder than i thought.

I originally thought i could just plug in a 3.5 extension, but it seems as though my PC has recognised the extension cable as a device at which point i don't receive any audio :s

Is there a way to extend the 3.5mm audio-in from my PC without having the extension recognised as a separate device?

I'm using a 3.5mm male to female extension cable, and i tried plugging it into the audio-in on one of my speakers, which i assume is why i then receive no sound.

The thing is, i want to use my speakers as my primary audio device until the evenings when i like to plug in headphones. I would like to do this without having to unplug anything from my PC.

Ok so my case only has one 3.5mm input on the back, which is used up by my speakers, which only leaves the 3.5mm in on my speakers, but when i plug the extension into the 3.5mm input on the speakers, the speakers recognize it as a device, so the audio is cut from the speakers.
