CD quality is still better then most downloadable music formats. I hope one day online distribution of FLAC becomes more common.

The only thing that will end CDs here is 24 bit@96k lossless downloads. Music in the cloud is for non-music lovers.

The only thing that will end CDs is lossless DRM-free files like FLAC. iTunes and such don't make sense to me presently. The only cloud to trust, is your own cloud.

I still buy CDs. They end up in a box in the garage right after I open and rip them to high bit-rate MP3 (320kbps) so storage place is not a problem for me.

Amazon thinking ahead... Have eveyone turn in their CD's, destroy them, then no one has any recourse but to buy digital distribution. No more garage sale finds...

I have a few hundred cd's, yes they are all burnt to mp3 btu I still keep the origionals in good shape and copy them for use in my vehicles (don't plan on bothering to upgrade my car stereos for use with an mp3 player) maybe something for later, but i doubt cd's will be completely dead for some time, though I admit it is a dying format, just not dead yet

CDs are not a dying format. I rather buy something I can hold in my hand and the quality is pretty good.

As some people pointed out, the only thing I think that can kill the CD is FLAC distribution. For headphones like Q701 a mp3 file just doesn't cut it.

I don't see why they want the CD's. What is amazons angle. They can't be making a lot on the promo. I cant see people selling a cd for $2 then buying the same album for $10 digitally
