AMD A4 Failing Windows 8/8.1 Updates

I work at a retailer and lately we have had a LOT of customers bringing back laptops that are stuck in a loop of installing windows updates and then failing and reverting changes for hours if not days. In most cases the only way to break the loop is to pull the battery and the cmos battery, and they are almost universally laptops with AMD A4 processors and windows 8/8.1 Any ideas? Any known issues or fixes?

it could be old bioses. Install the latest BIOS for those pcs.
