AMD A8-6410 Quad Core Processor vs Intel Celeron 29550 dual core

Looking at two laptops, both Acer both to run Windows 7 - do not want window 8, and both the same price. Not a computer geek, will use as a basic computer for internet, some brain training for my husband who has a brain injury and some word processing. Which would be a better computer for me?

The AMD A8 is a superior cpu compared to the celeron. It has more cpu cores and has a much better graphics core, which will result in overall better performance compared to the intel.

I would only advice to make sure the laptop you choose has 8gb of ram for a guaranteed smooth windows operation.

I would pick the A8 purely for a better allround experience as bootcher mentioned.
It will use more power though, so if battery life is a concern, take the Celeron.

go with the amd as both faster per core & for total speed. the amd is equal to a single core 8ghz compared to the intel being equal to a single core 2.8ghz.
