If the core/cores are unstable, you turn them off. If they are stable, you use them. Im not aware of any instability of cores causing any damage to hardware in this scenario.
Try at your own risk, AMD locked out the two cores because of stability reasons, but if you got one that was locked because of surplus than good for you.

Well the easiest way i can say it is you'll know. Either they wont work, wont boot, wont show, terribly high temps, error screens, but basically, you'll know :lol:
