Hello!

I was wonder,

Would it be ok to try to unlock the two extra cores?

I see some places say you should, and some say you shouldn't.

Please reply!

thanks!

Solution
If the core/cores are unstable, you turn them off. If they are stable, you use them. Im not aware of any instability of cores causing any damage to hardware in this scenario.
Try at your own risk, AMD locked out the two cores because of stability reasons, but if you got one that was locked because of surplus than good for you.

Well, what risk does it pose to the computer?

If it's unstable you should be able to reset your cmos to disabled the cores you unlocked, if it's stable than you got your self a $100 Phenom X4.

How do you know if its stable?

Well the easiest way i can say it is you'll know. Either they wont work, wont boot, wont show, terribly high temps, error screens, but basically, you'll know

Lol, ok!
