I don't believe this applies anymore. I've been playing D3 for the last four days and have yet to even get disconnected let alone not be able to authenticate with the server.

I would say so as well. there are many things that have stopped me from buying D3, one of them is the account hacking issue/problem. the other big one is the always online DRM.

I've been playing since the 17th and never encountered a single problem login in. I missed the first days craze because the game was sent by mail, so I can't comment on those first days.

why not just make the server emulator an official patch for the game that will solve the issue of that annoying error

or just make an offline only mode for those of us who don't care about the auction house crap.

Who cares if you have to be online to play? If it stops pirating, then great! Plus, the major issues were only within the first 48 hours. I've been playing error free for almost 2 weeks now. All MMO's and other online games will require you to be connected to the internet to play, but you don't see people complaining about that. This game was designed as a multi-player game from the ground up so you can jump in and out of your friend's single player games with ease. There are benefits to being online continuously. Most of the drawbacks are overstated and only affected the game for the first 48 hours. For the most part, you would never know you are playing online. Minor issues have overshadowed how much fun this game is and how cool some of the always online features are. This is the future of games and software in general. You will always be connected online.

Are you kidding me? Forcing me to have an always on connection to play the game solo is insane. I don't care what the reasons are. I don't want to spend $60 for a game only to be able to play on some other fools time frame instead of my own. DRM like this should be against the law. People that pay for games like this should be smacked as soon as they open the box for propagating this fiasco.

It's all fun until your account got hacked by just joining a public game or a hacker joined your public game. Google it, it happened and probably is not fixed yet. So, just play private game or solo.

I feel like I'm feeding the troll but here I go anyway... This game is completely designed to be online 24/7 and not only as a means for DRM. As someone who played a lot of D2 my biggest complaint was that my single player characters couldn't be taken onto battle.net. Now that's not an issue! The always online model is what works for a MMO.

If you don't agree with Blizzard's practice on licensing this game (yes licensing, not selling) then obviously don't buy it like you say you won't; but what you're doing is being ignorant and rude by telling other people that they should be "smacked as soon as they open the box for propagating this fiasco." You have no right to hate on other people because they want to enjoy a game.

Idk, I dont mind the always on connection. I like being able to chat with my friends that are still playing WoW, though I can see why many would like to have an offline mode and LAN option.
