"We are not trying to be one of many. We're trying to be different. We're trying to be the best solution for our customers that buy a BlackBerry.."
Different as in an EX-company? Better to be one of many than one of none. I kind of understand that DIFFERENT thought. Amigas were different, they were the best... they did things for many years that MSDOS & Apple could NOT do until 1996~2000. But they became out-dated and didn't do the things that needed to be done.
RIM... I always hated the BB OS... buggy, complicated... but you had the best for the time. Its been 5 years since the first iPhone... and you are talking about another 6~12 months before BB10 is ready?! So by next spring, it'll be 6 years after the iPhone... ouch. The first Android was released about a year after the iPhone.
I have no personal will for RIM to die. I even played with some BB in the at&t store yesterday as I'm about to upgrade. Nobody is buying their $50~100 devices. They look and feel great. The current OS 7 is... well, it works... that's about it. and beside- they are already running Android APPs on BB devices... so why the hate?
They can get NEW BB android devices to market in less than 6 months. Android runs on anything. I played with 6 different brands of Android phones, they all have different Launch screen themes... different looking dialers, different looking Contacts, different options, etc.
Almost NOBODY is interested in BB7 or BB10. But the idea of Android... gets people excited. That *IS* a bloody hint!! So rather than being "oh, those are the dying blackberries off in the dark corner" - your phones can be along side the Samsung and HTC models.
Get over yourselfs... You are a business not a fan-group. Hence, Amiga lives through fans - who make their own non-standard, yet actually quite amazing hardware that HAS no future. They are still too pissed off at intel to re-code the OS into x86 and simply use OFF the SHELF PC parts. But Noooo... they would rather spend $1000 for a board with a 1.x Ghz CPU that is non-upgradable, even thou its military grade. (Its owned by an Apple subsidiary)
Make BBM exclusive with your own Android phone or sell it for $50 on the market for other Androids, whatever. You don't have the money or the time to act like a 5 year old.
