It seems like a stupid argument to say that targeting men makes sense because more men have responded to the advertising. If they target women, the stats may balance out.

Well for one, look at marketing for phones like the Droid. Nuff said. Robots vs Princesses? Its a safe bet which appeals more to each gender.

Two, and I do hate to generalize so don't hate me here, but the tech-savvy crowd does tend to be mostly male, although there are obviously women who are tech-savvy as well, as is the author of this article. Android seems like something more tech savvy people use/even know about, where as the iPhone is for anyone.

Obviously you hve no clue what you are talking about. The moto droid is by far the best smartphone out there. Beats the hell outta the metro iphone. And its open source so we dont get milked for even more money from apple. You can have your apple POS ill stick with my droid which is fast, lag free, full of wonderful apps oh yeah..and doesnt run on the crappy AT&T network.

Americans are willing to pay a premium just to get a car from Europe or Japan. Now the US has the most innovative electronics company in the world, and we still have hate. When developing a website for a huge multinational company, I've heard from the marketing, that they are targeting mainly women, not men, because, guess what: men accept womenish sites but not the opposite. And that company is producing cars, mind you.

Uh...Apple, AT&T, Motorola, Palm, and Verizon (and Google) are all American companies. Any comparison between users of these companies certainly doesn't imply some kind of anti-Americanism.

My Droid is stable, lag-free and works. I can also change my background if I want to and write and run my own programs. I can overclock my processor. I have free navigation, my GPS unit is a REAL GPS unit, not AGPS like the iPhone. I can run multiple programs at the same time (i.e. my music will keep playing while i check my mail)

That's just a few reasons i picked a Droid over the iPhone, since you're not a fanboi, maybe you should check it out, you might like it.
