Antivirus: Kaspersky AntiVirus or Avast free AntiVirus

So I just setup my new windows 8.1 pc and was wondering if I should use my Kaspersky Antivirus I had on my old computer and still have 6 months left on the subscription, or if I should just go with something new like Avast Free AntiVirus. I believe Kaspersky is an excellent antivirus, but I don't want one that will slow down my system, I had uninstalled it because it seemed to be slowing my old pc down. Maybe it was slow because of something I did on my old pc that messed the program up.

I've used avast free for a long time. I like it, but I also don't make a habit of going things that would get a virus.

I think if you want the best protection, go with Kaspersky: Avast has pretty weak signatures 😛 BitDefender or Emsisoft i think should be your choice
