Hi all,

I'm wondering if it is needed to have another antivirus next to Malwarebytes. I read it doesn't give real time protection. If it is a good idea to have one next to Malwarebytes, do you have any suggestions for a decent free one? On pc mag's site I saw they tested several free ones, here is the link to it: http://www.pcmag.com/article2/0,2817,2388652,00.asp. Do you have any experience with the ones in that list and recommend any of them?

I have used AVG in the past (alongside malwarebytes) and found it to be sufficient, however an upgrade to a paid antivirus (e.g. Norton, Kapersky etc.) is worthwhile.

Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware is not an antivirus. You definitely need an antivirus running in real-time. As for free ones, I haven't found one I'd use myself. I don't usually pay for software, but I believe a good antivirus is worth paying for. Virus definition updates will be more frequent and you'll have a technical support, which you won't get with a free antivirus. I'd recommend ESET NOD32 or ESET Smart Security.

I disagree. Malwarebytes is to be used solely as an anti-malware software as it does not protect your PC in real-time. You should use it in conjunction with one or more of these.

If you are concerned about RATs, key loggers, etc. You should invest in Zenmana (has a free version). The paid version protects your PC in real time, and encrypts your keystrokes, passwords, and screen. I use Remote Administration Tools on my laptops incase they get stolen so i can lock them down, then find them. With Zenmana as soon as I interact with my laptop Zenmana quarantines my RAT. My RAT is set to BSOD on the termination of it's process, however Zenmana also bypasses this feature.

You should get Avira (free) for real time general virus protection. It monitors your PC in real time, and alerts you if it finds active Malware.

If you have ad-ware you should use, Spy bot - Search and Destroy(free). It should remove all ad-ware from your PC.
