Any way to set secondary display as default for video output

Hello,
So currently I have 2 displays hooked up. My primary one is set to my PC monitor and my secondary is set to my TV on S-Video. What I am looking to do since I cant see my tv from my desk is when I start a video file I want it to go to my TV by default in full screen. I am currently using VLC. I got it set to go to full screen by default but do not see an option for it to go to the secondary display by default. If anyone knows a setting in VLC or another app that will work for what I want it will be much appreciated. Thanks

I think VLC will just open in the screen that it was last closed in.

So just fire up VLC and put it on your TV screen, close VLC, then launch it again. I'm using version 1.1.10
