I have a presentation that was created on a iPad with keynote. I spent all sorts of time on it with animations and text. I wanted to add audio to it and record it as a movie so I could put it on you tube.

This is the first time I have done something like this and I don't know how to go about getting the audio for each slide on there and how to convert it to a movie with the animations played in each slide. I don't have a Mac to do this on, just an older iPad. I don't want to pay for a program to do this since I will be doing future presentations a different way and this is going to be a one time use.

Any idea if I can make this work the way I want it to or am I out of luck?

You've fallen into the trap Apple wants you to - locked into proprietary program which works only on a single device. I don't (and probably never will) own an iDevice, but check to see whether you can export your presentation into something more manageable - eg PowerPoint, OpenOffice Impress etc, then open tn in proper way/

Tablets (being they iPad, iPod, Androids etc) are consumption devices - they are not designed (neither their apps are) to be full-feature production devices. Use the proper tool for the job you're tasked with.

One way to do it is to use iMovie:
1) Open iMove
2) Import the audio clip
3) Save the clip as a video file
4) Save the clip to Camera Roll
5) Import the clip into Keynote
6) Resize the clip

This video explains it better than I can:

I have 16 slides with animation that each have varying lengths of audio. I wanted to do what is shown in this video, but take it further by doing this with all 16 slides and be able to start the presentation and let it run all the way through. I want to embed it onto a website that can be played like a youtube video. Any idea if that is possible?

Is there a way to present it in icloud and record that with audio somehow? I could manually advance the slides while speaking the audio and record it maybe...?

It is worth a shot. It would be nice if you could (and if this is something you wanted to do) could export the file as a video clip, bring it into iMovie and record a voice over. Never having attempted this I can't say for sure it's possible.
