I finally finished my first computer today(woo!). However the case I have doesn't support optical drives and such to allow more space inside, so I need to copy everything onto a USB. Basically almost everything I got has one and a disc copy of Windows. Thanks!

Solution
Modern Windows versions (7, 8, 10) have a "standard" way to make bootable USB drives to install OS from.
Linux and derivatives have their way to do that.
As for applications - you can always copy installation DVD onto a folder inside USB, and start installation from there.
