I have a subwoofer speaker with radio and usb, I always used this usb playing my music, the cd palyer of my old component is not working properly so i would like to know if the usb drive has enough power to run external cd player

Solution
Mind sharing the make and model of your entertainment system? Often times, it's mention in the manual that you can't get power through the USB port, only data transmission. On a similar note, a USB pen drive does not need much power compared to an External Optical Drive.

I wager that USB port is only for a solid state dongle, not any mechanical drive. If box has AUX_IN can always connect them the old skool way.

Even if the box will power the CD drive, you don't have controls or firmware to select tracks, start/stop etc. Rip your CDs, place them on a flash drive, and enjoy.
